COUNCILLOR CALLS ON RESIDENTS TO SIGN MANUFACTURING PETITION

Councillor Ben Ord (Spennymoor & Middlestone) is calling on residents across the area to sign his petition on the Prime Ministers website asking for an investigation into Manufacturing job losses in County Durham.

He commented "We have lost so many manufacturing jobs since Labour came to power in our area. I want Gordon Brown to investigate this as a matter of urgency.. We must see more investment into manufacturing before we lose the skills we have built up over generations."

Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Mark Wilkes commented. Ben's petition brings this problem to the top of the agenda. Labour has wasted billions on the VAT cut over the last year, when they could have been investing in new green jobs in manufacturing and all the industries which support it. The Lib will wil invest in 800,000 new training places and 60,000 apprenticeships. We will then be able to build the intracstructure that Britain needs for the future."
